Senaris always dreamt of being in space, even from an early age. However, real life intervened, he got married, and took a role on on Vulcan.
He was good at his job, but wanted to meet more people than he could on Vulcan, to learn from them things he couldn't from his own kind. He decided eventually, with his families blessing, and his wife's reluctant acceptance, to apply for a position at Star fleet. He did it as a way to get round the federation easily, meet new people and to be in space. He flew through the academy, and was soon a Ensign on the USS Iron Duke.
Senaris became an Operations crewman, and was uniquely suited to his job. Although he at times found it boringly simple, he was very good at his job, his logical nature making it easy for him to deal with the operations of a starship. He was quickly promoted, making it to Chief Operations officer in a year an a half, eventually ending up on the USS Argyll. After that, the promotions slowed, but he was promoted to Executive Officer, when the CO retired.
As an XO, Senaris was fulfilled. He was gaining experience that one day he could use to become a CO, but thought that he was not yet good enough. He was offered transfers to become a CO a couple of times, but each time turned them down. Eventually, his CO, Captain Crieghton gave him an ultimatum. Request a transfer to the USS Sarek, or be transferred back to Vulcan, into diplomatic duty. After a nights meditation, Senaris put in for a transfer to the Sarek. He had been in Star Fleet for 10 years, and was 119 years old.
Senaris is a typical Vulcan. He rejects emotions by default, and half expects all others to do the same, although understands when they inevitably break out in a rash of illogical actions. In some cases, he has learnt to rely on others to provide the emotioned response, to offset his own, intensely logical response. |
