Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Ayra has a tendancy to be gruff to strangers when she isn\'t on duty; she chose the career that she did for intellectual, rather than emotional purposes. She finds the sentient mind exceedingly fascinating, but as far as social interaction, she isn\'t quite as interested. She is extremely sarcastic, and has a dry, deadpan sense of humor. Many people have mistaken her humor for honest feelings or opinions. An ex-colleague once accused her of being asexual, simply because she does not find it extremely necessary to engage in what she calls \'The barbaric mating rituals that still linger in the undertone of every date.\' |
|
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Ayra is very stubborn, which can be considered either a strength or a weakness. Anything that has to do with what she calls \'solids\', otherwise known as \'facts\', she deals very well with. She is extremely analytical, and works through puzzles very well. She is not very good with extra-curricular social interaction. Her physical stature also limits her in hand-to-hand combat, and she loathes phasers with a passion. |
|
| Ambitions | Ayra is happy with where she is. She only had an interest in becoming a clinical psychology, which she has done. | |

| Personal History | Born in 2337, during the height of the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor, but was luckily not to members of any labor camps. Her father, Vedek Ayra So, served as a liason between Empok Nor and Earth, therefore was treated extremely well by the occupants. Kvera went through her adolescense relatively smoothly in comparison to other Bajorans during that time period. Before the Cardassians withdrew, when Ayra was 19 years old, and had been educated by her mother and father throughout her life. However, with a brief encounter with the Federation, she discovered her true calling in the heart of that community, Earth. At the extreme disapproval of her parents (which they still harbor resentment toward her for) Ayra recended her Bajoran citizenship, and became a citizen of the UFP. She moved from Bajor to Earth in order to do that, and was 21 when she finally gained her citizenship. While on Earth, she became a translator in the UFP council chamber, from the age of 19 until she recieved her citizenship at 21, but after it was discovered that she had no more education than that which her parents had provided for her, she was let go. One of the requirements of the job was a degree in linguistics, and despite the fact that Kvera spoke 8 languages fluently, there were no exceptions to this rule. Lost, and with no idea of what to do, the young Bajoran ended up applying and being accepted to Starfleet Academy. Her major, psychology. Ayra felt extremely estranged from her classmates, mostly because they were in general several years younger than her. She developed a natural inclination to shrug off most people, simply because of the cruelty of her classmates. Six years after her initial tenure at the Academy, at the age of 27, she graduated nearer to the bottom of her class, or as her instructors said `By the skin on her teeth.` Her first assignment, oddly enough, was to Bajor to serve as a grief counselor to the victims of the Occupation. Unfortunately, said assignment didn`t work out too well, because most of her patients percieved her to be a coward. After talking to her Commanding Officer, Commander Layton Davinport, Ayra was granted a transfer to Starbase 1, back at Earth, working as a research psychologist. While doing completely undistinguished work at the base for three years, Ayra was transfered to the USS Lexington, to serve as the ship`s counselor`s aide. After only a year of service on the Lexington, her CO, Captain Kilick Drakar, recommended her for a promotion, teasingly calling the 31 year old `The oldest ensign in the fleet`. The promotion went through, along with a promotion at her assignment, to assosciate counselor, still being assigned to the Lexington. After another five years on the Lexington, the Constellation-class vessle was finally decommisioned, and Ayra took an extended Leave of Absence from Starfleet to attempt to continue her education. She succeeded, continuing on her Master`s degree in psychology to earn a Ph.D in the same field, with a focus on the clinical aspects of it. After the two years that it took to recieve her Ph.D, Ayra returned to her Starfleet career, now being assigned to the USS Intrepid as Head Counselor. While there, Kvera recieved two demerits for insubordination. She offered no justification when recieving said demerits, saying that on both occassions that she spoke out of turn with her CO, she saw it `Prudent at the moment.` After Captian Jackson of the Intrepid felt he ran out of patience with Ayra, he requested that she be transfered off of his ship. Ayra was transfered to the USS Rembrandt, serving again as head counselor, after only a two year tour of duty on the Intrepid. After her first two years, Captain Ciati of the Rembrandt commended Ayra, and requested that she recieve a promotion. The promotion was granted. Another two years went by, and the Rembrandt was destroyed by a warp field malfunction. Only three survivors made it off the ship alive, the rest of the escape pods were caught in the blast. Ayra still carries the guilt of her survival with her, but still felt that she could perform her duties, so retained her commission in Starfleet. She was transfered to the USS Sarek, where she is serving as head counselor still. |
