Personal History Jim was born James Timothy White, on January 28th, 2341. He was born to George Franklin White and to Johanna Caroline White. As a child, Jim grew up with his mother on Earth. His father, George was the Captain of the U.S.S. Tripoli, an Ambassador class starship, and was only home sporadically. Jim grew up almost fatherless, he would long to see his father on shore leave. At age six, Jim joined the Junior Space Cadets and eventually rose to be a Cadet Commander in the program. At age 13, Jim joined the Junior Explorers, in the field of Starship Flight Operations. He eventually earned the Silver Award, which is the highest rank in the program. During High School, Jim was the president of the Future Star Fleet Officers Club.

At age 17, Jim traveled from his home in Indiana to San Francisco to enroll in Star Fleet Academy. Academy life wasn't as easy as Jim thought it would be. Up to this point in his life, there was nothing he couldn't tackle and win, but Star Fleet was difficult even for him. Jim's mentality changed from "study now, party later" to "party now, study later". By the second semester of Freshman year he was put on academic probation. During his Junior year, Jim washed out of the Academy, thus ending his dream of joining the officer corps. He did the next best thing, he enlisted.

In 2362, Jim graduated from Basic Training at the top of his class.. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Galaxy, the prototype of the brand new starship of Star Fleet’s newest and most powerful line of starships. The newly minted crewman apprentice was assigned as a Helm officer on the ship. In 2364, with the encounter of Q by the crew of the Enterprise, Star Fleet sent the Galaxy to Vulcan. A summit was to be held there, and the brass in Star Fleet were fearful for the protection of the Federation delegates. The Galaxy had the privilege of transporting the Vulcan Ambassador to the summit, Ambassador Spock. On the journey, Jim was able to meet the Ambassador and dined with the Ambassador in the Officer’s mess. Jim was intrigued by the stories that the Ambassador told during these dinners.

Growing up Jim had always admired Captain James T. Kirk, through which he was named after. His grandfather, Tim had served with him on the Enterprise and the two became friends. After serving on the Galaxy for four years, Jim emerged from the Galaxy four years older and a Petty Officer Third Class. He was reassigned to the U.S.S. Yamato, this time as the assistant chief shuttlecraft pilot.

In 2366, Star Fleet sent the Yamato along with the last of the fleet to Wolf 359 to assist in the battle taking place there with a large cubic ship that was on its way to Earth. They arrived to late, the fleet was decimated. The Yamato was then sent to Earth as part of the last line of defense. The Yamato aided the Mars Defense Perimeter in the defense of the Sol system. The Yamato survived the first volley of torpedoes from the Borg Cube, but lost one nacelle. The now disabled ship was attacked once more, completely destroying the bridge and the deflector shield, the ship was defenseless. The Borg beamed away teams onto the Yamato, Jim was on the battle bridge at the time. He was the last helmsman onboard the ship.

“Sir, the Borg have stopped their attack.” Jim said from the emergency helm console. Lieutenant Commander Benson responded, “Then maybe it’s over…” from the command chair. A klaxon filled the empty halls of the ship, Intruder alert. “Sir, boarding parties on all decks.” Jim said from his console. “Attention, all hands. This is Commander Benson, all hands, prepare to rebel borders.” Benson said from the CONN. A large noise was heard on the bridge, “Sir, they’re breaking through the door.” Jim said. Commander Benson stood up from the command chair, he opened the chair up and threw a phaser at Jim. “Come on Jim, time to earn your pay.” Benson said, turning his phaser to full power. Jim did the same, he felt his heartbeats through his ears, his breathing was heavy through the smog that filled the battle bridge, the aroma of blood, sweat and burnt carpet permeated through the air. The door flew open, sending shrapnel through the air. Jim ducked behind the console, but Benson was not as lucky. A large piece of metal sliced through his stomach. Jim opened fire at the Borg that had stepped through the remains of the door. The Borg fell down, dead. Jim opened fire on the second Borg, unfortunately it had adapted. Jim continued to fire, but his phaser was useless. The Borg continued their approach. Jim took two steps backwards and tripped over a metal bar. He landed on the back of his head, his vision blurred. He looked up at the blackened ceiling… He had to hold on… Jim pulled himself to his fleet and picked up the metal bar, they were not going to get him without a fight.

The Borg approached him, Jim swung as hard as he could and hit the Borg on the side of his head. The Borg flew against the wall, the life smashed from his skull. Jim turned his attention to the next Borg…. Jim stood there, dumbfounded… He dropped the pipe… He looked at the Borg… He was clad in a red Star Fleet Uniform, he looked up at the face… He saw his brother stare back at him through lifeless eyes… “No…” Jim breathed, he collapsed to his knees… “Good God no…” he said. The man who had at one time been Jim’s older brother, George approached Jim and threw him against the wall. Jim gasped in pain, his shoulder was shattered… He stared up at his brother, who towered above him. His vision was blurred through the tears that had welled up into his eyes, both the physical and emotional pain had come to the surface. The Borg crouched down and extended his arm… Two microtubules protruded from his hand and punctured Jim’s neck… He felt as though he were dying… He felt utter blackness consume him as his consciousness faded as though someone blew out a candle…

For the next two months, Jim laid in a hospital bed on Earth. The rescue team had recovered his lifeless body. It look the doctors a whole month remove all of the Borg nanoprobes. For his heroics onboard the Yamato, Jim was awarded the Christopher Pike Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart for his injuries. After his tour in the hospital, Jim was promoted to Petty Officer 2nd Class. Jim was reassigned to the newly refitted U.S.S. Enterprise as the head shuttle pilot.

In 2367, the Enterprise finally left McKinley Station. Jim was onboard the Enterprise during the Klingon Civil War, but during the final assault was transferred temporarily to the Saratoga under Lieutenant Commander Data. He served as the ship’s Helm officer. At the end of the Mission, Commander Data recommended Jim for promotion to Petty Officer 1st Class. Captain Picard approved, and Jim was promoted later that month. Jim served for four years on the Enterprise and emerged from her as a Senior Chief Petty Officer at age 30.

In 2371, Jim was transferred to Starbase 171 in the Alpha quadrant as the chief shuttle pilot of the starbase. However a drastic turn of events had other plans for Jim, in 2373 Jim was transferred to the U.S.S. Merrimack to serve as the ship’s chief helmsman and was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer. He served on the Merrimack during the Dominion War, in 2375 the Merrimack was destroyed during the final assault on Cardassia. Jim survived her destruction in an escape pod, he was the last surviving member of the senior staff.

The crew of the Merrimack had to wait for two weeks until the Joint Relief Effort of the Romulans, the Federation and the Klingons arrived. Jim along with the other survivors were transported aboard the IKS Sto-Vo-Kor, a Neghvar class battlecruiser. Jim made some friends among the crew of the Sto-Vo-Kor, the Klingons were impressed that he survived assimilation by the Borg. So much in fact that the Klingons invited Jim to stay aboard as an exchange officer. Jim served aboard her for two years, until he was transferred back to Star Fleet.

Jim took a year LOA from Star Fleet in 2376. In 2377, Jim’s son, Dick was born. Richard Timothy White was born on November 28th, 2377 in San Francisco. Jim and his wife Anne agreed that it was better that Dick stay with her on Earth. Jim returned to Star Fleet in 2379 at his former rank. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Venture, a Galaxy class starship. It had been over ten years since he had served on a Galaxy class starship. Jim served on the Venture as the Chief Helm Officer for three years and left as a Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Class. In June of 2382, Jim celebrated his twentieth year in Star Fleet. Unfortunately, that year was laced with tragedy. On August 22nd, his wife Anne was killed in a shuttle accident, leaving their only son, Dick in a security office in San Francisco. Jim hurried to pick up him up. In 2384, Jim was reassigned to the U.S.S. Leviathan as the ship’s Chief Helm Officer, he took Dick with him. He served on the Leviathan for two years. In 2387, Jim contemplated retirement, he was only forty seven, but he would be celebrating twenty five years in Star Fleet. However fate dealt another wild card, later that year Jim was given the opportunity to earn his commission. He was selected to become an ensign and serve aboard the U.S.S. Sarek as the ship’s Chief Helm officer.
